Wealden Funeral Services is an independent, family-owned funeral director supporting families in Hailsham and the surrounding communities.
Our funeral home and private mortuary are in Heathfield. You do not need to travel to us to begin making arrangements: we can meet you at home, speak by telephone or online, or meet somewhere informal where you feel comfortable.
Personal care, provided locally
Families sometimes assume that using a funeral director from outside their town means the person who has died will be taken much further away. That is not the case with Wealden Funeral Services.
Everyone entrusted to us is cared for locally in our private Heathfield mortuary. Our own team remains responsible for their care while we work with you to arrange the funeral.
You can speak directly with us throughout. We explain what is needed, what can wait and what each choice is likely to cost.
Funeral choices
We will explain what is included, help you compare the choices and give you time to decide what feels right.

Hailsham Cemetery in Ersham Road is managed by Hailsham Town Council. It provides for coffin burials and cremated-remains interments and includes Gardens of Remembrance.
The cemetery also has an area for unmarked meadowland burials using biodegradable coffins.
If Hailsham Cemetery is being considered, we can contact the council, check the current requirements and availability, and coordinate the interment paperwork.

Eastbourne Crematorium and Wealden Crematorium are both practical choices for many Hailsham families.
The best venue is not always simply the nearest. Available service times, facilities, ceremony length, cost and the journeys being made by relatives can all matter. We will explain the differences before making a booking.

When someone dies, you can call us at any time for guidance. Once the necessary immediate medical or official steps have been completed, we can arrange to bring the person who has died into our care.
The first requirement depends on whether the death occurred at home, in hospital, in a care or nursing home, or unexpectedly.
Clear funeral costs
We explain our funeral director charges and the third-party fees associated with the choices being considered. You will receive a written estimate before the funeral is confirmed.
Journeys outside approximately 30 miles of Heathfield may incur additional mileage charges. We will explain any likely charge before you make a commitment.
